Venice Grand Canal Mall

Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines

In the financial and lifestyle district of Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the Venice Grand Canal Mall is constructed. The entire BGC district used to be a part of the main Philippine Army camp and experienced commercial growth following the sale of military land. Along with this development, the 3-storey lifestyle mall with 3 basement levels was conceptualized.

BAUER Foundations Philippines, Inc. was tasked with the construction of the excavation pit for the building. The site is situated adjacent to the main Venetian tower and is near a 15-storey building with 2 basement levels. The original scope of works awarded consisted of diaphragm wall with ground anchors. However the secant pile wall was proposed and designed by Bauer to be able to execute the shoring from several different elevations and to account for numbers of corners and curved alignments of the wall, considering that it is lying near the building’s boundary line.

A total of 452 secant piles with 880mm diameter and maximum depth of 22m were constructed using BG15 and BG30 drilling rigs, to serve as a pile wall for the retaining structure. In addition to this, Bauer was responsible for installation of 550 ground anchors, as well as construction of capping beams and waler beams.
